Why Collect Antique Tin?
When you collect antique tin you are collecting pieces of history. In yesteryear, many food suppliers stored their goods in tin cans or boxes to ensure fresh quality for the consumer. These tins were highly decorated and were also a great form of advertising for the company. Oil companies and various other manufacturers promoted their products by way of tin signs. All of these are unique and are actually a type of artwork which makes them very attractive to collect.

- Tucher + Walther pride themselves on their traditional tin toy making methods, which is no different than when they were made at the peak of their production back in 1880 - techniques that are all but lost among todayÕs manufacturers.Ê
- Each tin toy starts out as a single piece of tin plate.Ê Artists then cut the tin into individual pieces and punch, stamp, curve and emboss them.Ê Once the individual pieces have been completed, they are soldered together by hand, have their moving mechanisms fit, are sprayed with color and, finally, embellished with paint by hand.
- Limited to only 200 pieces worldwide, this wind-up ÒSpacey TraceyÓ Robot tin toy is numbered and comes complete with his very own wind-up key, certificate of authenticity and box for safekeeping.

Reviews
I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old that have developed an obsession for putting things in boxes to carry around, so I thought this would be perfect. I purposely dismissed the other reviews, thinking it wouldn't be so bad- my mistake. This box is undeniably cute, but it's made of very flimsy material and is difficult for even the most dextrous 4 year old to manipulate shut. Unless it get's put on a shelf for mere display use, it won't last long.
This is a cute little piece but forget about actually using it as a lunchbox... In fact, forget about using it even as much as to open and close it. It's purely for display purposes for a Beatle fan. Bought it for my 7-year old son who loves the Beatles, as a lunchbox for school. We opened it...and it never closed again. The lock was defective. I called the customer service and they were great! They offered to replace it ASAP. About a week later I received another lunchbox... it's just it wasn't the Beatles, this time it was... The Wizard of Oz!!!!! It was a very weird mistake, one doesn't usually confuse Ringo with Dorothy, does one? Anyway, by then I had given up on it and never called the Customer service again. My son is a proud (:)) owner of two metal lunchboxes: one with the Beatles (that doesn't close), and one which closes all right but is with the Wizard of Oz. I think that this lunchbox is very cute... but the execution of the idea is a nightmare.
The lunch box looks nice, but it is cheaply made. I'll be surprised if it lasts a few months. Who ever makes these I doubt has children because the metal is as thick as a piece of paper.
My kids love the Beatles, and can now show off at lunch time to their friends.
This is quite possibly the neatest thing ever! I wish I had it back in school. Very beautiful. :-) Love it.
